Barbecued Anything

I got this recipe from "Sugar Cookie Murder" by Joanne Fluke. I used what I had in the house rather than the recommendations. It is a very good recipe but we did not think it better than "Tony Roma's Honey Carolina Steak Sauce" or "Lea and Perrins Steak Sauce".

Norman Rhodes is the name of the character that submitted this recipe.

1/2 cup catsup (Norman uses Heinz)
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup bottled steak sauce (Norman uses Heinz 57)
1/4 cup prepared mustard (Norman uses hone mustard)
2 tablespoons wine vinegar (or apple cider or plain white)
1/2 teaspoon Season Salt (see Mrs. Knudson's recipe)
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 onion, minced (if Norman's in a hurry, he uses dried chopped onion)

Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container.

Mrs Knudson's Season Salt
1/2 cup table salt
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground oregano

Place the ingredients in a blender and blend for a few seconds. Store in a tightly-covered container. Yield: 3/4 cup Season Salt
