Broccoli & Cauliflower Salad

I tasted this salad at Relief Society and fell in love with it. I made it the next day. I checked the internet and found that you can add anything you like.
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Bacon
Craisins
Sunflower Seeds
1 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup Sugar
2 Tablespoons White Distilled Vinegar

Chop up vegetables into bite size pieces. Add craisins and seeds. Mix mayonnaise, sugar and vinegar together. Mix dressing and vegetables together.

Can also add cheese chunks, cherry tomatoes, red onion, celery, red seedless grapes, shredded carrot, kidney beans, green onions, olives, artichoke hearts, red bell pepper, chicken, cashews or ramen noodles.

Other ideas for dressings are Italian Dressing, Ranch Dressing or Asian Dressing consisting of 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons white vinegar, 2 tablespoons sesame oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon sugar.

Hope you enjoy this salad as much as I do!!!!

Ancestor's Plates

I have plates that belonged to my grandparents and mother and have recently moved them to a new place in my home.

This plate belonged to my Grandpa Weeter who had a restaurant. Steaks were served on this platter.
This plate belonged to my Mother. She had a full dinner set of Currier and Ivies.

This plate is mine. I love hearts!

This plate belonged to my Grandma Snyder.

Parmesan-Herb Pan Biscuits

I found this recipe at a food blogger's blog - http://cafejohnsonia.blogspot.com. I saw this woman and 2 others on Good Things Utah. My sister-in-law has made something similar and made it look so easy, so I tried it and am pleased with the results! My husband thought I used a box or biscuit mix because it didn't take long to mix up.

1/3 cup butter
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbs chopped fresh herbs
1 tbs sugar
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk

Heat ove to 400 degrees F. Place butter i a 9" square baking dish and place in the oven to melt. Remove pan from oven until ready to use. Combine dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Make a well in the center and add the milk. Stir until the flour is just moistened and starts to form a ball. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead ten times. Roll the dough into a rectangle that is 12" by 4". Cut the dough into twelve 1" strips. Dip each strip into the melted butter in the pan. Arrange the biscuit strips in the pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 12.

St Patrick/Easter Tablerunner

My sister-in-law came over and taught me how she makes tablerunners. This one looks better than the one I did on my own. I will be making more to cover each month of the year!

Barbecued Anything

I got this recipe from "Sugar Cookie Murder" by Joanne Fluke. I used what I had in the house rather than the recommendations. It is a very good recipe but we did not think it better than "Tony Roma's Honey Carolina Steak Sauce" or "Lea and Perrins Steak Sauce".

Norman Rhodes is the name of the character that submitted this recipe.

1/2 cup catsup (Norman uses Heinz)
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup bottled steak sauce (Norman uses Heinz 57)
1/4 cup prepared mustard (Norman uses hone mustard)
2 tablespoons wine vinegar (or apple cider or plain white)
1/2 teaspoon Season Salt (see Mrs. Knudson's recipe)
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 onion, minced (if Norman's in a hurry, he uses dried chopped onion)

Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container.

Mrs Knudson's Season Salt
1/2 cup table salt
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground oregano

Place the ingredients in a blender and blend for a few seconds. Store in a tightly-covered container. Yield: 3/4 cup Season Salt
